A Japaneese Hawaiian Man: The Best Bonsai-Artist Ever
The art was mostly practiced in the Temples as a form of worship and Zen for the soul. At the time of the bombing of Pearl Harbor most of the bonsai were then burned. This could have been the end if it were not for a man that decided that he would try to save as many as he could in secret, in order that he would not look as though he was not being empathetic to the japanese. So he took as many as he could get his hands on and took them up into the mountains in Hilo. Only to bring them back down years after the confrontation was over. This was the resurgence of Bonsai as we know it today.
There are many practioners of the art of Bonsai in Hawaii today along with the diversity of the Island and the people. Hawaii may possibly have the most diverse group of practionars any where in the world.
